Hey Chris
I hope you had a nice weekend. Thanks again for your consideration to this.
As an update we submitted further paperwork on Friday. My hope is that this won't keep leading to further asks,
which has been the patterns and several weeks in between those asks. That is the real problem. The process has been
so drawn out its created a urgent situation to prevent further damage to the house. I have a structure that is in
immediate need of work and could get worse with the snow, and need to get working on it. Seems there should be in
process in place for people that need to do immediate work to take care of their house and prevent further damage,
and get what is damaged, fixed. So I just really need them to issue the permit, at least to start the restoration work.
The fact is, the integrity of my roof/house is compromised, and I cannot do anything until I get a permit. And there
should be a way to expedite.
The problem is because they are so backed up, and behind this process took much longer than it needed to. And the
pace continues to be one that lacks urgency. We have jumped through so many hoops and then some, and its cost me
a lot of money and time, and its cost the contractor a lot of time, having to keep coming back and doing more. We
let them know the seriousness of the situation and yet still its taken months and still nothing. I am not wanting to be
critical of the staff there, but because they are so behind, and have put us through so many requirements, I am here
in winter without an ability to fix my house.
So I just want to be clear. I just want them to expedite the permit because of the urgency, and not come back and say
we need yet another piece of information of which is not relevant but rather just the process. My contractor is doing
everything possible to get them all the asks, and to do this all legally. But its really testing all of us, as he just wants
to make sure we get this fixed, but is an honest contractor that won't do anything without doing right by the permit. I
would hope the planning and permit folks want to cultivate that honesty, and not force people into doing things
without a permit.
Thanks for your continued consideration.
Respectfully,
Laurel

Hi Chris and Terry –
Please see attached letter around an ongoing and very serious matter involving my house and safety in downtown
Bozeman. Per what I put in the intro of this letter, I am out of options and not sure what to do here, so I am sending
this your way. I know you are problem solvers and genuinely concerned about the people of this community, and it
is in this spirit that I send this letter after what has been (and continued to be) an incredibly stressful experience. I
hesitated to write this, but many friends and residents of this community urged me to bring this to your attention.
Thank you for taking the time to read it, and I look forward to your guidance. I have also cc’d my local Rep to the
Montanan State Legislature, Jim Hamilton.
Respectfully,
Laurel Angell
