Good afternoon,
I am unable to attend tonight’s meeting but I am concerned regarding the Parks District Mill Levy.
I am concerned that we are using tax payer dollars to fund the maintenance and upkeep of HOA
managed parks. To me I think finding additional tax dollars is not the prudent response to non-
compliant HOA parks, have you considered placing fines on the HOA’s that are not keeping their
parks up to standards much like if a homeowner doesn’t shovel their sidewalk? Will implementing
this levy decrease property taxes since this will no longer be pulled out of the general fund?
Secondly, the idea of placing this on the same ballot as the school district is concerning as essentially
we are stating parks are as important as schools. Which we both know is not the case. I feel the
voters are beginning to feel voter fatigue for approving ballot measures that keep coming and
property taxes keep sky rocketing. I would like to see more discussion on finding alternative ways to
manage parks versus placing the sole burden on the tax payers.
