Good afternoon, Commissioners.
I understand that the agenda tonight includes a discussion of the parks district mill levy. The Bozeman Area
Chamber of Commerce had a fantastic conversation with Andrea Surratt a couple of weeks ago. We truly appreciate
the City's willingness to have representation at our Board retreat.
While Andrea raised some interesting points regarding the potential mill levy, I ask that the Commission table this
discussion for a time when there are fewer very important ballot initiatives that could be affected because of this
park levy. There is a great deal of conversation on the streets regarding increasing property taxes and people's
willingness, or lack thereof, to continue supporting tax increases. While I understand this Commission's interest in
improving parks, Education and Public Safety should take priority. This potential parks levy will find itself in direct
competition with both.
Please table the discussion of the parks mill levy.
