Dear Sarah,
I am writing to let you know I oppose the Warming House location. I do understand the need for an overflow
house but this location was terribly thought out. It is a horrible idea to put up to 36 homeless people close to
where1200 students go to school. It is currently known as a very safe neighborhood in town and parents feel
safe letting their young children walk to school alone. Knowing there could be 36 homeless people in the same
path as kids walking to school is a huge safety risk. There will be no control over who these homeless people
are and what their actions will be. Many homeless have mental illness. There are so many situations that could
arise that could put children and families at risk. This is just the beginning of all the reasons it should put in
another area of town.
I feel like if you found the right location in Bozeman you would have a huge support system to make it
successful. Unfortunately, the families on the south side are not supportive of this issue and for good reason.
I ask that you please take the children and families close to this proposed Homeless Shelter and put their needs
first. We have to protect our children at all costs and putting homeless in the mix of a school neighborhood is a
risk we do not need to not make.
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Kimberly Garson
