Abel - HRDC Warming Center SiteFrom:Stan Abel To:Sarah Rosenberg Cc:Agenda Subject:Proposed HRDC Homeless Shelter Date:Wednesday, November 06, 2019 6:50:37 PM Dear Bozeman City Commissioners and Mr. Matsen, I am writing regarding the proposed HRDC homeless shelter at 3025 Westridge Drive. We only recently became aware of this proposal and have deep concerns and many questions that need to be addressed. We live in Alder Creek, a few blocks from the proposed shelter. Given the large number of occupants (unscreened occupants as we understand), the proximity to a grade school, a middle school, parks and many homes with young children, this community deserves and requires a full vetting process and an opportunity to have input into this proposal. We support the objective of helping people who are in need and can't help themselves. However, there are appropriate places to locate a shelter and this proposal poses a potentially dangerous and damaging impact on this community of families and children. We plan to become more involved in this discussion and the process. In the meantime, we wanted to voice our concerns immediately. For many reasons, 3025 Westridge Drive is not an appropriate place for a homeless shelter. Thank you, Stan and Staci Abel
