Subject:Concern about proposed overflow warming center in Figgins subdivision
Date:Wednesday, November 06, 2019 9:21:42 PM
To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to voice my concerns over SUP application 19438. My family purchased a home in
Figgins several years ago because we wanted to be in a non-densely populated subdivision.
One of the factors we looked at specifically was how the neighborhood was zoned. The R-1
designation was a major factor in that decision. If this permit is approved, this is setting a
dangerous precedent, and puts the Figgins residents on a slippery slope that could change the
neighborhood.
In the Bozeman daily chronicle article that was published on October 17th, 2019, it was stated
that the HRDC would bus warming center visitors at 7 am and 7 pm. However, it was not
mentioned in that article that warming center visitors are not required to take this bus. If they
don’t take the bus, then where does that leave them? The location of this home is more than
a mile away from the nearest Streamline bus stop, and is less than 300 feet from an
elementary school. I have significant concerns about any non-resident population being left to
loiter around the neighborhood.
I understand the need for an overflow warming shelter. However, I think the proposed
location is a poor choice, and another location, closer to public services and transportation
should be considered and utilized. Thank you for taking the time to read and consider my
concerns.
Sincerely,
Margaret Worob
