Subject:Proposed shelter in Figgins neighborhood
Date:Wednesday, November 06, 2019 10:04:01 AM
To whom it may concern,
As a senior and homeowner in the Figgins subdivision for many years I am deeply concerned about
the proposed shelter in the neighborhood. First off its to close to Morning Star elementary school,
there is no convenient public transportation available without walking the through entire
neighborhood. This is a single family zoned neighborhood, up to 35 people a night is a number that
will change the character of this quiet part of south Bozeman and is unfair especially to homeowners
on that block.
Figgins is a neighborhood that young family’s choose because of the proximity to the school, right
now its neighborhood where kids routinely walk to school, enjoy the park and play outside. This
proposal will change that and working parents will no longer feel comfortable when their child is
home alone as is necessary in this day and age.
Finally, many homeowners have invested at their limit to live here because of what this
neighborhood offers, this proposal will put at risk that financial investment and could reduce values
below their loan amounts not to mention older people like my wife and I who have our home equity
as a major part of our retirement investment.
My guess is there are no city commissioners or planers living in Figgins, if there were this proposal
would have been nixed before it began. It is your duty to treat all neighborhoods like you would
treat where you live. Please don’t do to Bozeman what California is doing to their entire state
