Dear City Commissioners,
I am a new resident to the Alder Creek neighborhood and am writing to express my oppositionto the proposed HRDC Homeless Shelter at Westridge Drive.
I am concerned about this location due to the lack of services available for the population that
will be served. In my research, the two nearest bus stops are 0.8 and 0.9 miles away and manytransit options will take over an hour if not more in the winter. In addition, the streets in the
Figgins area and S.3rd roads are very poorly lit and are not safe for bicycle or foot trafficduring the evening or early morning hours. While I am supportive of dispersed shelters, I
cannot support a location that is not in close proximity to public transportation or saferoads/sidewalks. In addition, the location is more than a mile from the nearest grocery store
and gas station. This does not seem like a convenient location for the population served.
I hope that you will reconsider the proposed homeless shelter at 3205 Westridge Drive.
