Atkins - HRDC Warming Center SiteFrom:Susan Atkinson To:Sarah Rosenberg; Agenda Subject:Homeless Warming Overflow Date:Monday, November 04, 2019 8:41:10 AM Hello my name is Susan Atkinson I live at 2409 Westridge, I have a daughter who attends Sacajawea Middle School. I am concerned with the homeless warming overflow proposed location. HRDC has the opportunity, based on the city policy, to ask for special consideration for awarming overflow. HRDC also has the responsibility to serve all the community and consider their decisions as well. I am concerned that the city would allow for 20-30 people to stay at the house on a nightlybasis. I am concerned that the fire code would make it dangerous for that many people to stay there on a nightly basis. I am concerned that HRDC will ask people to leave at any time of thenight, if their behavior endangers others in the house. Where are these people going to go? They are in a neighborhood with families and they will have no place to stay and no way toget there. The warming shelter is around a mile away from public transportation. If the people chose to not ride the HRDC shuttle to or from the shelter how will they get around. There are only 2 parking spots in the driveway and on one the street. If people show up in their own car, or get dropped off who monitors this? Their proposal states the people in the shelterwill not be able to do this, who will be responsible to tell them they have to leave or park somewhere else. Will anyone be let in, based on their proposal no one is turned away. If you make the decision to allow the warming center it is indefinite, there is no turning back. The communities around the warming center will bear the fall out. Housing prices will be affected, kids safety, community safety... There is a need, this is not the location. HRDC has the right to move forward with thislocation. The city is put in a position to make the best decision for the residents in this area of Bozeman. This is not the right location, even for a 2 year proposed period. HRDC is put the city in aprecarious position by purchasing this house and then using the policy to make a go of it. No public transportation, in a neighborhood, fire code, housing code changes, 2 near schools, farfrom the services HRDC provides, affects the housing prices and safety of the neighborhood. Thank you for your consideration. Susan Atkinson
