Dear Bozeman Commissioners,
The DBA Board, as the representative of our 325+ members with nearly ½ located on “public rights-
of-way,” are in support of the proposed changes to the Sidewalk Encroachment Code, Ordinance
2027. As the stewards of our more valued retail and pedestrian district, we realize the importance of
ADA compliance and accessibility in our downtown area and feel the changes to the code, as
proposed, addresses the current visible issues with ADA compliance with encroachments in
downtown on our public rights-of-way. We appreciate Taylor and the city staff’s efforts during
revisions to realize the importance of ADA compliance while also remaining business friendly.
Due to the quick nature of finalizing these changes and getting the approval on the commission
agenda in time for permit renewal, this will be our only written support. But, I will plan to be in
attendance at Monday’s Commission Meeting in case questions or concerns arise.
