Subject:Warming Shelter - Westridge Ave
Sara,
It has just come to my attention of the proposed warming shelter on Westridge.
While I am all for having a warming hut shelter in Bozeman (of course all homeless
people should have a warm safe place to sleep), my concerns are that they can come
and go throughout the night and that many could have criminal records.
From what I've read - at the men's shelter, police are typically called out to shelters 2x
per week. There has been no survey's done by HRDC to see what the impact will be to
the surrounding areas, and the house is within 100 yard of Morning Star Elementary
school property. Also, no background checks are performed on the shelter occupants!
I am concerned that this is just too close to our Morning Star and Sacajawea
neighborhoods.
Please consider our neighborhoods and children.
