Subject:Proposed Shelter Location
Dear Sarah Rosenberg and Director Matsen
I recently bought a home and live near Morning Star Elementary on Westridge Dr in the Figgins Additions
neighborhood of South Bozeman. I am concerned with the lack of community inclusion in the decision
regarding the location and operation of the proposed HRDC homeless shelter at 3025 Westridge Dr. Of course
we need shelters but this location too isolated from public services that the homeless need and utilize. The
nearest gas station is Kagy Corner at a one mile away walking on South 3rd and that street doesn't even have a
sidewalk. Churches with services to the homeless are even further away. Families need to be in a safer facility
closer to the stores and services they can easily access on foot. No public hearing or vote for such a major
community decision seems drastically undemocratic. Thank you for working with the community as a whole
and taking into consideration the opinions of the property owners of the neighborhood.
