Hi Sara,
I am a resident of Bozeman and live in Alder Creek subdivision. I am becoming aware of the urgent appeal from HRDC
for the approval of the Westridge Warming Shelter permit.
I urge you to NOT APPROVE this request. We are a family oriented community. HRDC has no process or procedures to
insure kids safety and well‐being. We have an organization (HRDC) that does not require background checks (male or
female). They were not aware of the proximity to the Crosswalk which is almost connected to the home lot. HRDC
stated last night that they were not aware of Montana laws related to sexual offenders and the proximity to
children. However, they do require weapons be checked at the door upon arrival. Do you sense a concern with me on
this?
Clearly HRDC wants a quick fix for their problem, which is warm beds. However, they do not have a long term plan and
substantial needed documentation to give any of us confidence that they know how to manage a site of this impact to
kids and community.
Again, I urge you to not approve this permit for use, which is against the R1 zoning and not a well thought out option by
HRDC.
Do we have your support to NOT APPROVE the permit?
I hope I can say "THANK YOU" in the near future for protecting Bozeman kids and communities by not approving this
request.
