Subject: Proposed HRDC shelter
I am a resident of Alder Creek Subdivision and I am deeply concerned about HRDC's desire to have a homeless shelter at
the corner of Westridge and Graff. I know there is a need for a facility of this nature but this is the wrong place. There
are probably a couple of hundred small children that come by this intersection each day on there way to school. Graff
and Third is a major area where children assemble to walk to the Middle School or to Morning Star. Many of the
homeless have major issues including drug problems, mental problems and criminal records. These people simply do
not need to be around and near children. In addition this use will be contrary to the area's classification as residential.
In addition it will hurt the value of neighboring houses as people looking to buy in that area will not be willing to pay fair
market value with a homeless shelter in the area. The City of Bozeman should deny this application and assist HRDC find
a location more appropriate.
