Subject: FIGGINS warming shelter
Hi Shari-
I'm a neighbor in FIGGINS subdivision and, as you know,we all just found out about the proposed HRDC
warming shelter on the corner or Westridge and Graf. I wanted to write to you expressing my concerns
regarding the placement of this shelter and the impact it would have on our neighborhood. FIGGINS is a
collected group of hard working families that value our quiet little sanctuary off of South 3rd. Our family
moved onto Arnold in 2016 leaving our condo on N 5th after 10 years because of constant transient traffic
through our complex causing a feeling of unrest as we raised our young boys. We had break ins to our house,
were constantly harassed for money, trash left behind, and a general feeling of uneasiness in that neighborhood
and worked very hard to buy the house we are currently in. To many south Bozeman residents, buying a house
in this prestigious section of Bozeman isn't a stretch but to us, it was a giant leap that has paid itself off tenfold
with the blessings of wonderful neighbors, safe streets for our children to play and close proximity to great
schools. I completely understand and support the need for a warming shelter but adamantly OPPOSE the
placement of this one. It,by no means, belongs way off the beaten path in a secluded neighborhood between 2
schools. To be informed of the proposal 5 hours before a"pop up meeting"is unexcept able and reeks of deceit
. I Would expect higher standards of conduct coming from such a wonderful resource such as HRDC.
Unfortunately, this action changes my views. I will let you know that after careful consideration,FIGGINS will
not back down on this matter and are taking this VERY seriously. I know your inbox will be inundated with
emails from close neighbors and supporters from surrounding areas that will be impacted, I just ask that you
take each email with careful consideration and an open mind and to please put yourself in our shoes.
Thank you,
Amanda Henry
