HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-31-19 Public Comment - B. and R. Hollowell - HRDC Warming Center SiteFrom:Brian Hollowell To:Sarah Rosenberg; Agenda Subject:Proposed Warming Center at 3025 Westridge Dr. Date:Thursday, October 31, 2019 7:52:07 AM Marten Matsen and Bozeman City Commissioners, While I recognize the need for a warming center during the cold months here in Bozeman, the proposed location at 3025 Westridge Dr. is a bad idea. Please respect the R-1/singlefamily zoning designation of this neighborhood and find a more suitable location for the warming center. This location was previously used as a group home for troubled youths. It housed far fewer people than the proposed 36 people per night during that time period. Despite the fewernumber of occupants there were issues with parking. Many times there would be vehicles parked on the front lawn of this house. There was not adequate parking at this property for thegroup home. There is definitely not enough parking for the proposed warming center. This location is not close to any public transit stop. I believe that it is a mile or further awayfrom the closest bus stop. This location does not serve those in need adequately. The proximity of this location to Morning Star and Sacajawea schools is also a problem. Itboarders a very busy crosswalk that children use to bike and walk to school. Placing a high volume warming shelter here posses safety risks to these children. Please respect the current zoning laws in place and reject this special permit application. Thank you, Brian and Rebecca Hollowell2911 Westridge Dr.
