Subject:Proposed HRDC Homeless Shelter @ 3025 Westridge Dr

Ms Rosenberg, City Commissioners, Mr Matson and Mayor Andrus,
It has come to my attention as a resident of Alder Creek, that a proposed homeless shelter is literally three houses
away from me.
First off, I have empathy for the homeless and there is a need to support this effort. However, this is not the
neighborhood to do this. There is a major concern regarding the safety of our children attending both Morningstar
elementary as well as Sacajawea MS. The home is a few hundred feet away from the elementary school and not the
wisest decision as we consider the safety of these kids amongst a fully suburban series of developments.
A shelter like this needs to be adjacent to a bus line and this location is over a mile away making it unsuitable for
these folks to get around.
Lastly, the crime that follows and is adjacent to homes like this is not something I desire. It detracts from the
values of our homes with one swift and unchecked decision of a policy maker and this is simply unacceptable.
As a citizen in this neighborhood I strongly oppose this plan and want it on the record to kindly find another location
possibly adjacent to commercial zoning or the edge of commercial and residential zoning.
Thanks for your listening ear and again I urge this plan to be overturned. Please keep me appraised of this
situation.
Sincerely,
Alex Kutches
