Subject:HRDC Homeless Shelter 3025 Westridge Drive
Date:Monday, October 28, 2019 12:14:29 PM
Sarah,
I would like to express my concern regarding the proposed homeless shelter location at 3025
Westridge.
I don’t think the proposed location is anywhere near to being appropriate for numerous reasons.
The location is within close proximity to two schools. The Homeless do not use this part of Bozeman.
Why is HRDC posing to introduce homeless to a residential neighborhood miles away from where a
shelter is needed? Is HRDC going to bus people to and from the proposed shelter? There are
concerns with the mental health of some of the homeless and the potential for a unwanted
encounter between the kids and the homeless.
Mid-Town would seem to be a much better location. Last year I noticed numerous homeless in the
dead of winter seemingly walking to say warm near my Mendenhall office. The majority of the
homeless I noticed last winter were near the Mid-Town district. Please provide a shelter for the
homeless within walking distance to the homeless population.
Thanks Sarah!
