Hi Mr. Mehl,
At some point, I would like to meet with you to discuss how we can build some more neighborhood fairness into the
Special Use Permit application process. Very few people were notified (only those within 100 feet of the house)
about the proposed warming shelter even though many more have a vested interest in what happens to the house
given it's proximity to two schools. It seems to me that if a school is within 300 feet of such a major change, more
parties should be notified, including the schools. I spoke with an elderly woman who lives across the street and three
doors down from the house in question and she was shocked that she wasn't sent a letter or told about the proposed
shelter. The application is really troubling and should mandate that more neighbors be notified than just a handful.
Thanks,
Emily K. Mason
