Brown - Street Lights on Baxter LaneFrom:Marilee Brown To:Emily Kelly Cc:Agenda; Cyndy Andrus Subject:Re: street lights on Baxter Date:Wednesday, October 16, 2019 9:10:04 AM Hi Emily! I’m sorry that you are having such difficulty figuring out who and how to contact the City on the street lights. I have let the mayor know that this is an ongoing issue with the website not being clear on who to contact regarding complaints and suggestions on any subject. I know that the City was going to have a committee looking at light issues (both too dark and too bright) but don’t know how to find them. Probably the best way to address this issue is to send a letter to agenda@bozeman.net. The manager’s office will hopefully send this issue to appropriate staff and the commissioners. I have copied them above. The lights certainly are bright. Even though I am 1/2 block away, I have to pull down a room darkening shade at night. I have never had to do this before. I’m glad that they are looking out for safety at the intersection, but they need to put blinders on the lights so that they don’t point into homes. Let me know if no one contacts you and I can perhaps get this on another traffic safety committee. There is a quarterly TCC meeting on the 23rd. The MDT will be there along with City engineering. There is a public comment time. I will forward the agenda to you when it comes out. Absurdly bright! So bright that the house on the northeast corner of Ferguson and Baxter looks like it has a spot light shining on it. When you drive down the road the lights also create a lot of glare in your eyes and on the road surface. There is one I can see from the second floor of my house that looks like an airplane is coming in for a landing. I do not exaggerate. I invite you to come see for yourself. It must be awful for the homes that are directly on Baxter. > > This is not good for our neighborhood appeal to be lit up like a prison. I have sent this note to the HOA board but I do not expect a helpful response. I have looked at the city and county websites. Neither has a department for street lights. I tried to send an email to the city engineer but the “i am not a robot” kept crashing so I could not send it. I’ll give him a call later. > > The Northwest Energy website says street lights could be owned by various entities so no help there. > > Do you have a suggestion on who to contact? > > Thank you, > > Emily Kelly
