Scope of Work—Task Order No. MID20-002
North 5th Avenue Fiber Conduit Design
8/5/19
Sanderson Stewart is pleased to provide this scope of work for design services for the installation of fiber
conduit on North 5th Avenue from Aspen Street to Tamarack Street. This work is to be done as a part of
the Urban Renewal District term contract for architectural and engineering services. Fiber design assistance
will be provided by CTC Technology and Energy as shown by the attached scope/fee.
We understand the project generally includes fiber conduit and associated communications boxes along the
west side of N 5th Ave. It will begin at the southwest corner of the intersection of N 5th Ave and Aspen
Street, running north to Tamarack Street, for a total of approximately 360 LF of new conduit. New fiber
services will be planned for several proposed nearby development projects and the design will account for the
potential realignment to the west side of 5th Ave to avoid the proposed back-in angle parking along the
Westlake BMX Park. A detailed list of assumptions and scope of services for the project are outlined below.
Scope of Work:
Phase 1-Project Management
This phase of the project will include project initiation, scoping, contract preparation, phone calls with the
City of Bozeman and CTC,and project management throughout the project.
Phase 2-Topographic Survey Pick-ups and Base Mapping
A detailed topographic survey of the project area has already been completed, including pre-survey utility
locates, topographic features, and a corner search to establish right-of-way. The scope of this phase of the
project will include any topographic survey pick-ups that are determined to be needed for the fiber project.
This may include surface features and/or measure downs on water main valves, sewer and storm drain
manholes for the purposes of identifying any potential conflicts with proposed fiber crossings. Base
drawings, which have already been prepared in Autocad format, will be updated as needed for the new survey
pick-ups. If needed, public and private utilities will be located again prior to the survey.
Phase 3—Preliminary Design
Design tasks for this phase of the project will include layout of the conduit runs in plan view along with the
communications box locations. The level of detail provided on the plans will be consistent with the 2016
Downtown and North 7th Fiber Conduit project. The plans will also include various details as needed for
proper installation. Public and private utilities will be shown for coordination and identification of conflicts.
Sanderson Stewart, with assistance from CTC,will prepare special provisions and a specifications manual
including the templates for bid documents. The engineer's opinion of probable cost will also be provided
with this review submittal.
Phase 4—Final Design
Sanderson Stewart will address all review comments received from the City of Bozeman and prepare final
plans, specifications and engineer's opinion of probable cost. The final deliverable Nvill include electronic
copies of all submittal documents,as well as up to six hard copies.
The following items are not expected to be needed for this project and are therefore specifically excluded
from this scope of work:
