HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-27-19 Galavan / Streamline Advisory Board MinutesStreamline Advisory Board Minutes August 27, 2019 HRDC Board Room Attendees: Cara Priem, Sunshine Ross, David Kack, Joseph Menicucci, Terry Aldrich, Suzanne Winchester, Linda Sherwood, Vanessa Palmer, Kristin Blackler, Tracy Menuez, Dan Martin, Jennifer Boyer, Bill Hoch, Kelsey Davis, Graham Hughes, Anna Price Prior Meeting minutes – 5/28/19 minutes were approved Public Comment – None Next Meeting – September 24, 2019 Discussion Items - a) David Kack & Kristin Blackler proposed increasing the Yellow and Orange Lines to a 30 minute frequency instead of adding a MSU shuttle bus to service the Tech Center on W Garfield and the hospital on Highland. Before that can happen Streamline has to have enough buses to provide that service along with additional funding. b) 4 new buses will be arriving in the next 12-18 months c)MSU students pay $5/semester through their fees for transportation, Missoula $35/semester, Wyoming $50/semester d)Joseph Menicuccci suggested asking Belgrade for additional funding for Streamline e)Bill Hoch tabled the discussion about the circulator until more information is available about leasing additional buses. The goal is to start the service in October and more discussion will happen at the operations meeting in September. f)Sunshine Ross received 3 bids from consultants to look at the existing service and make recommendations. g) 2 new Board members were introduced and approved – Jennifer Boyer for the at large seat, and Graham Hughes for the ASMSU seat. Director's report – a) Sunshine Ross reported the voucher program with the taxi company did not work and was cancelled. Treasurer's report - David Kack reported the fiscal year starts July 1. Galavan received 3 new vehicles which should help decrease the maintenance costs in the future. Secretary's report – nothing to report ASMSU report – Graham Hughes reported they are working on the design, funding, and implementation of 2 solar powered bus shelters. Subcommittee Reports – None For the Good of the Bus – a)Introduction of Anna Price from MSU who is encouraging ridership b) Joseph Menicucci requested additional stops in Belgrade because of minimal sidewalks in various locations. He suggested that the Belgrade schedule be reconfigured to allow for delays and traffic since it is now difficult to make transfers. c) Terry Aldrich stated the potential for additional riders in Belgrade could come from the tech companies along Jackrabbit serviced by the Green line if additional stops are provided.
