I am the owner of unit #307 in the 5 West project adjacent to the proposed AC Bozeman.
First, I would like to say how much I have enjoyed watching downtown Bozeman developover the past several years. The foresight and master plan the city officials have executed, to
create more urban density and curtail suburban sprawl, is a great land plan and one that shouldbe heartily endorsed by the residents of Bozeman. Curtailing suburban sprawl should be an
ongoing endeavor: it is better for the environment (fewer cars and associated traffic &pollution), it is better for the downtown merchants (retail and restaurants) and the plan will
bring a greater number of desirable jobs into the core of the city as more office users makedowntown their destination. Greater residential density in the central business district
further’s the energy downtown is currently experiencing. I believe staff and city council havea done a thoughtful job encouraging smart development with a tasteful aesthetic while
protecting the heritage of Bozeman.
The proposed Marriott AC Hotel would be another strong addition to the city. I believe it willadd economic vibrancy to the Mendenhall geography/district, add value to the surrounding
residences, and be a significant improvement to the current land use. The aesthetic is alsovery complimentary to the Element Hotel and 5 West property. Furthermore, there is
excellent parking across the street in the city garage which will ameliorate any concernssurrounding adequate parking.
Heretofore, I am in favor of this project and recommend that the Design Review Board,
Director of Community Development and City Council embrace and approve this application.
