Rouse Ave. Bozeman, MT First Name Erin Last Name Rudy Email Address errudy@gmail.com Phone Number 4065776192 Comments I am writing to you today with my concerns for the proposal to not offer a left turn in to Petra Academy on the reconstructed Cottonwood Road. While I am sure that the city is doing their best to create a traffic plan that best utilizes access to the newer schools in the area (including Meadowlark and the proposed new high school), I am concerned that the plan does not currently take in to account the needs of those of us with children at Petra. Without being able to enter Petra from my usual commute (along Stucky and down Cottonwood), I would need to instead either travel all the way to Gooch Hill (which is not the safest way for me to transport three kids on snow and ice in the winter) or travel down Oak/Ferguson/Durston. This route is already traffic- heavy and in addition to adding to the traffic burden along what would be the single useful route to access Petra, it effectively forces us to drive through the highly trafficked pedestrian area where children walking to school cross to access Meadowlark. Re-routing traffic to longer, more stressful commutes for Petra families and increasing traffic through areas where the goal should be to minimize car traffic increasing near young children walking to school at Meadowlark, does not seem like the best choice. My husband and I are long-standing Bozeman residents, and understand that the ballooning of the local population has made it hard to meet all needs, but I also trust that there is a way in this circumstance to find a solution that does not disproportionately affect one community. I appreciate your consideration of these concerns as you make your final decisions regarding the Cottonwood project.
