I'm a resident of Valley West on Clifden Dr. It's recently come to my attention that the design
for N Cottonwood Rd between Babcock and Durston includes a southbound left-hand turnlane into Valley West but does not include a northbound left-hand turn lane onto Classical
Way.
Please reconsider this design.
I believe this design will funnel hundreds of cars per day into Valley West, and most likelyonto Clifden Dr, as drivers northbound on Cottonwood look for a shortcut to get turned
around. I've heard that the engineers' expectation was that drivers would go an extra mile outof their way to use the Oak and Cottonwood roundabout to turn around. That seems unlikely
given that the current Cottonwood Rd construction's detours have taught drivers that Clifdendr is a convenient shortcut that takes them half the distance out of the way compared to using
the roundabout.
I do not believe that the elimination of the southbound left-hand turn onto Waters St will be aninconvenience to me or other Valley West residents. Southbound traffic on Cottonwood
looking to enter Valley West will turn onto Durston and then make a right-hand turn ontoEneboe, Clifden, or Kimball. I'm confident of that because it's what I've been doing to avoid
Cottonwood Rd since it became a pothole-strewn mess last fall.
My preference is to have a northbound left-hand turn lane onto Classical Way instead of thesouthbound turn lane onto Waters St.
