Bozeman City Commissioners,
My name is Ryan Weber and I live at 491 Candlelight Drive Bozeman, MT 59718. I am writing you today
to ask that you please reconsider the decision of not installing a left turn lane onto Classical Way off of
Cottonwood Rd. I have three teenage children and they are part of Blitzz Soccer Club, Bozeman
Ultimate Frisbee league, they attend Petra Academy, and we attend Trinity Church, which meets at
Petra Academy. Between the 5 of us, we are turning on Classical Way at least 4-6 times a day Monday-
Friday, and 2-6 times a day on Saturday-Sunday depending on soccer, church, or events at the school.
Currently there is significant foot and bicycle traffic along Durston Rd. with children and families walking
to and from Petra Academy, Heritage Christian, and Meadowlark Elementary. With the increase in
homes and development increasing out west, the new high school being built, there will be more foot
and bicycle traffic around that intersection.
Not having a left turn lane will be a significant issue for drivers, pedestrians, and local homeowners.
Having to do U-turns in the Durston Rd. and Cottonwood intersection would cause delays in traffic and
possible accidents. Driving through neighborhoods is not a realistic route and could lead to accidents,
unhappy homeowners, and frustration by all. Driving a mile north to Baxter Rd to use the roundabout
and head back south on Cottonwood Rd. is impractical and will not happen.
As an active member of our community, a tax payer, a voter, and concerned citizen, please install a left
turn lane on to Classical Way or put in a light at Classical Way and Cottonwood Rd. The safety of my
children, the safety of neighbor children, and the safety of our community should be a priority.
Thank you for your consideration,
Ryan Weber
