Dear City Commissioners,
It has been brought to my attention that as part of the improvements to Cottonwood
Rd there will no longer be a Northbound left turn option onto Classical Way. While I
understand the need to limit the number of left turn options on major thoroughfares, I
feel that skipping the left turn option onto Classical Way might be an oversight that
has unintended negative consequences. As the father of a Petra student and soccer
player and a soccer player myself I attend Petra and use the Bronken Sports
Complex regularly. If the current plan goes through as-is I would be forced to drive
either through residential neighborhoods or add to the traffic and congestion on
Durston Rd. Neither option is appealing to me, other Petra staff/parents/students,
Bronken Sports Complex users, the many commuters who currently use Durston, or
anyone who lives in the surrounding neighborhoods who might have increased traffic
on their residential streets. Additionally the lack of left turn option would increase my
twice daily commute to Petra (more time/more pollution/use of resources etc).
A left turn option onto classical way could alleviate those possible unintended
negative consequences.
Thank you for your time and consideration of this issue and I hope that you will see
the necessity of reviewing the current plan and adding a Northbound left turn option
onto Classical Way from Cottonwood.
