City of Bozeman
Parcel Mapping Project
10/2/98
OBJECTIVE:
The objective of this GIS project is to complete a parcel layer for the City of Bozeman. This will
involve assembling and converting data from several different sources, including AutoCad
quarter-section maps, AutoCad subdivision files from surveyors, and the original hardcopy plat
drawings. All data will have to be geo-referenced, and the GPS road centerline data and GPS
section corner data will be used for geodetic control. Both polygon and arc attribute tables will
be incorporated into the database; the '.aat' will contain bearing and distance information, and the
'.pat' will contain the legal description, the geocode, and the street address. The City will provide
the geocodes and street addresses.
In order to begin this project, GIAC will need copies of the digital data, hard copies of the
original plats for the subdivisions and additions, and a copy of the parcel map for Bozeman so we
can see the layout for subdivisions as well as the PLSS in the City.
