Hello,
Bozeman is in a period of incredible growth and the city has been working hard on improving traffic
patterns, building new streets, adjusting current streets, etc. I appreciate the work being done. I would like
to find out how the city is managing adjusting Bozeman's traffic signals to account for the increased traffic
our roads are seeing. I'm sure there are a number of areas where the traffic signals are increasing
congestion due to their timing with other traffic signals along the way. A specific example I can give you is
the intersection of Babcock heading west and 19th Avenue. The light at Main Street and 19th Avenue
turns red as the light at Babcock and 19th turns green. With the increase of traffic on 19th Avenue there is
rarely any open space for cars making a right turn (north) onto 19th Ave. With as few as 3 cars ahead of
me, I have had to wait through 3 lights to make a right hand turn. I imagine there may be a similar issue
on Beale Street and 19th Ave once BHS' new entrance off 15th is open and more cars are driving down
Beale to 19th after dropping students off at school. I have not heard this discussed and would like to know
what steps the city is taking and if there is any type of notification system where residents can report
areas with similar issues.
Thank you,
Katie Arnold
