Dear Danielle Garber and City of Bozeman Department of Community Development,
This letter is regarding application 18557.
This proposed development on Gallatin Green does not adequately
provide for the additional parking needs it will generate.
The proposal calculates the minimum parking requirement as 70.924 - in
other words, 71.
However the site plan seems to only provide 61 usable slots - 10 short
of the requirement.
The proposal seeks to meet the requirement by eliminating 1 slot using
new math to round 70.924 to 70, moving 4 slots to the street, and
counting 5 slots in front of a building planned to include garages.
(Perhaps they are planning to have valet service to move the cars out
of the way whenever someone needs access to their garage ?)
The existing houses on Gallatin Green were not constructed with
garages - which means that the street is already constricted by
vehicles parked on the street, so any development in that corridor
should provide adequate off street parking (as the apartment complex
has done).
Please require the developer to adjust the plan to provide adequate
parking before it is approved.
