Subject:Comment on Westland lofts master site plan

I have some comments on the upcoming Westland Lofts project, application 18557, on Gallatin Green Boulevard.
I am most concerned about the increased traffic use of Gallatin Green and, specifically, on the intersecting
Kimberwicke Street. My understanding is that the city believes the first phase of building there does not merit a
traffic study. Before the second phase, however, the city is obligated to conduct another traffic study. But the first
phase, which will include ground-level commercial use as well as residential, will increase traffic to such an extent
that Gallatin Green and Kimberwicke will resemble a major intersection instead of a minor residential street. I feel
that an updated traffic study is needed concerning the impact this project will have on the residents living there.
The developer’s plan also calls for four spaces on Gallatin Green to accommodate the 70 parking spaces required by
the city for the four-building project. This can possibly reduce GG to a one-lane road in front of Building A.
The plan seems insufficient to accommodate this increase in traffic and parking and merits further consideration
before the first phase begins.
Sincerely,
Austin Carter
