Commissioners and Staff,
Last night during Music on Main I witnessed a person on a E-scooter
racing through the crowd at high speed. Later on another rider flew
past me from behind as I was walking on the sidewalk. Still later I saw
two obviously intoxicated guys almost crash into a light pole on the
sidewalk. While E-scooters are touted as environmentally friendly, the
plug-in charger means you’re burning coal to ride a scooter. And what
about the environmental costs of the inevitable injuries? What’s more
environmentally friendly/healthy than walking somewhere?
Regulations won’t stop this behavior. E-scooters should be banned
within the city limits.
