Tree Advisory Board since 9/2015 Please explain your relevant qualifications, interests and experiences: I am interested in continuing to serve on the Tree Advisory Board to participate in local green infrastructure-related policy and work, build partnerships between MSU and the City, and, ultimately, help shape Bozeman’s urban forest to be resilient, sustainable, and bring out the best in people and our environment. I am an Associate Professor in the Landscape Design program at MSU in the Plant Sciences Department. I teach courses in landscape graphics, site engineering, site and urban design, and landscape planning. I received my Masters of Landscape Architecture and Masters of Natural Resource Planning and Policy from the University of Michigan in 2009. My current research focuses on regenerating vacant and underutilized land for ecological and cultural benefits. In addition, I explore design preferences and strategies that help green infrastructure to be sustainable. Before coming to MSU, I worked as an ecological site designer for Conservation Design Forum and SmithGroup JJR, both landscape architecture, planning, and water resource engineering firms. Prior to graduate school I coordinated urban and community forestry programs for 4 years at a non-profit, Tree Trust (St. Paul, MN), working on community greening projects like tree plantings, workshops, trails, and outdoor classrooms. In this role, I worked on projects with municipalities, schools, private industry, and state and federal agencies, including USDA-Forest Service.
