To Whom it May Concern,
I am a local business owner, residential property owner and owner of a downtown Bozeman building.
Can you please help me understand why it is acceptable for a private, for profit business to operate using our public
sidewalks as the free platform for selling their product/ service?
I pay taxes on my building, maintain, clean and clear the sidewalk (and the alley). Is this business paying the City to park
these scooters?
Not to mention the safety hazard they create. Operating one the scooters on Main Street (a state highway) is
inherently dangerous. An 11 year old child was just struck by a vehicle and killed in Livingston. Our streets are even
busier. Recipe for tragedy in the making.
Operating a scooter on the sidewalk is illegal. But, guess where the scooters are being used? On the sidewalk.
So now I guess we’ll pay the police to monitor the usage of this unmanaged “service”.
This doesn’t make any sense to me.
Can you please help me understand why this is allowed?
Thanks for your time,
Albert McDonald
