HomeMy WebLinkAboutProclamation 85- Womens History Week March 3-9 1985 -- ,,- PRO C LAM A T ION WOMEN'S HISTORY WEEK March 3-9, 1985 *********************** WHEREAS, American women of every race, class and ethnic back- ground helped found the Nation in countless recorded and unrecorded ways; WHEREAS, American women have played and continue to play a critical economic, cultural and social role in every sphere of our Nation's life; WHEREAS, American women have played a unique role throughout our history by providing the majority of the Nation's volunteer labor force, have been particularly important in the establishment of early charitable, philanthropic, and cultural institutions and have been at the forefront of every major progressive movement for social change; and WHEREAS, despite these contributions, the role of American women in history has been consistently overlooked and under- valued in the body of American history; NOW, THEREFORE, I, Kenneth L. Weaver, Mayor of the City of Bozeman, do hereby proclaim the week of March 3-9, 1985, as WOMEN'S HISTORY WEEK and do urge all the citizens of Bozeman to observe such week with appropriate ceremonies and activities.
