RECREATION AND PARK MONTH
June 1983

WHEREAS. individual and organized forms of recreation and creative use of
leisure time have gained growing importance in the lives of all
Americans as they find more time freed for personal pursuits; and
WHEREAS, recreation encompasses a myriad of activities that result in
emotional and physical satisfaction, family unity, and a general
feeling of well-being; and
WHEREAS, recreation is not confined to the young and those with great physical
prowess. but can be pursued by persons of a" ages in vari ed 1 ei sure
programs; and
WHEREAS. recreation, in its most far reaching benefits. can help combat the
problems of juvenile delinquency. disabling old age and general
depression by sUbtly highlighting new avenues of interest to every
individual in the community.
NOW. THEREFORE, I, Alfred M. Stiff, Mayor of the City of Bozeman. do hereby
proclaim the month of June 1983 as
RECREATION AND PARK MONTH
and do urge all citizens to become actively involved in life-long leisure
pursuits.
