UNITED WAY DAYS
September 15 - October 15, 1982

WHEREAS. Bozeman is a relatively small community but still must provide
those "extra" services that make it a special place to live
instead of just any town; and
WHEREAS, those services are best and most efficiently performed by
volunteers from the local community who know the needs and
are most qualified to provide the services to Bozeman
residents; and
WHEREAS, in 1979. did several of the agencies that save lives, train,
provide health. guide and assist our youth. elderly and needy
band together in a United Way organization designed to provide
all such services more efficiently and effectively; and
WHEREAS, that United Way concept proved itself for the past three years
as a benefit to all of us and has now grown to 20 agencies,
hundreds of volunteers and numerous needed and valuable
services; and
WHEREAS, the United Way requires at least $150.000 to continue these
extremely beneficial services in 1983 and is beginning its
1983 Campaign Drive on September 18, 1982; and
WHEREAS. many businesses have provided volunteers to help raise this
money and offered to enable their employees to make payroll
deductions and hundreds of others have volunteered to assist
on their own time.
NOW. THEREFORE. I. Alfred M. Stiff, Mayor of the City of Bozeman, do hereby
proclaim the month of September 15 through October 15, 1982, as
UNITED WAY DAYS
in Bozeman and urge all our citizens and businesses to cooperate in this
campaign as their hearts dictate, to welcome the volunteers and to give
freely in love and tender concern to benefit our community in this special
United Way.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF. I have hereunto set
my hand and caused the great seal of the
City of Bozeman. in the State of Montana,
SEAL to be affixed at Bozeman. Montana, this
13th day of September in the year
of our Lord. One Thousand Nine Hundred
and Eighty-Two.
