SEXUAL ASSAULT AWARENESS AND PREVENTION WEEK
**** OCTOBER 2 - 9, 1983 ****

WHEREAS, the community of Bozeman has been and continues to be
affected by the crimes of rape and sexual assault; and
WHEREAS, the occurence of these crimes of violence may tend
to increase with the return of the University student
population; and
WHEREAS, one way to combat this problem is through educational
activities designed to increase the awareness of the
population of Bozeman; and
WHEREAS, the MSU organization Students Against Sexual Assault
is organizing a week of educational programming on
sexual assault awareness and prevention with the theme
"Take Back The Night"; and
WHEREAS, the support of the City of Bozeman will help make
this effort more effective and, thus, help make
our community a better place to live;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Alfred M. Stiff, Mayor of the City of
Bozeman do hereby proclaim the week of October 2-9, 198J, as
SEXUAL ASSAULT AWARENESS AND PREVENTION WEEK
in Bozeman and urge all citizens to concern themselves with
the issue of sexual assault, this week and throughout the year.
