HomeMy WebLinkAboutProclamation 84- ROTC Awareness Week October 1-7 1984 PRO C LAM A T ION ROTC AWARENESS WEEK October 1-7, 1984 ******************* WHEREAS, the Reserve Officer's Training Corps (ROTC) has been an integral part of the educational process in Montana since 1896, and the Air Force Reserve Officer's Training Program has been a part of Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana, since its inception in 1946: and WHEREAS, it is appropriate that all citizens of Bozeman honor those young men and women who have taken that extra step to educate themselves fbr peace and prepare themselves to defend the freedom of our country: and WHEREAS, Montana State University is a land grant institution whose basic charter is to include the teaching of military tactics and the Air Force Reserve Officer's Training Program is dedicated to teaching these tactics, in addition to training young men and women to be professional officers: NOW, THEREFORE , I, Kenneth L. Weaver, Mayor of the City of Bozeman, do hereby proclaim the week of October 1, 1984, as ROTC AWARENESS WEEK and do urge all citizens of the City of Bozeman to pay tribute to the young men and women students who are a part of this important program, and to the Air Force officers and NCO's who train these cadets. I have full confidence that their contribution to the United States, the State of Montana, and the City of Bozeman, will help to ensure world peace for years to come. IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the great seal of the city of Bozeman, in the State of Montana, to be affixed at Bozeman, Montana, this 1st day of October, in the year of Our Lord, One Thousand Nine Hundred and Eighty-Four.
