PRO C LAM A T ION
WHEREAS, the Constitution of the United States of America is the funda-
mental guarantor of democratic self-governance, personal
freedoms and human dignity of the American people; and
WHEREAS, the year 1987 marks the two-hundreth a~nivcrsary of the
Constitution of the United States7 anc'l_
WHEREAS, the national Bicentennial Com~~ission has been chartered by the
government of the United States to foster citizen recognition
and understanding of the Constitution; and

WHEREAS, the national Bicentennial Commission encourages all cities and
towns in the United States to .become Bicentennial communities
through the creation of local Bicentennial Committees; and
WHEREAS, a group of Bozeman citizens representing the diverse and varied
neighborhoods, organizations and interests of our community
have organized a nonpartisan and nonsectarian Bozeman
Bicentennial Committee for the purpose of seeking designation
of Bozeman as a Bicentennial Community;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, JUDITH A. MATHRE, Mayor of the City of Bozeman, do
hereby proclaim:
THAT, the Bozeman Bicentennial Committee is the official Bicentennial
Committee of the City of Bozeman; and
THAT, said Committee shall prepare for my signature a formal application
for the designation of Bozeman as Bicentennial Community; and
THAT, said Committee shall strive to achieve the educational and community
objectives set by the national Bicentennial Commission for all of the
citizens of Bozeman.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto
set my hand and caused the great
seal of the City of Bozeman, in the
SEAL State of Montana, to be affixed at
Bozeman, Montana, this 8th day of
June, in the year of Our Lord, One
Thousand Nine Hundred and Eighty-Seven.
