HomeMy WebLinkAboutProclamation 87- Senior Citizens Week May 18-22 PRO C LAM A T ION "SENIOR CITIZENS WEEK" May 18-22, 1987 ************************ WHEREAS, May has been proclaimed "Older Americans Month" by President Ronald Reagan; and WHEREAS, the theme for "Older Americans Month" is "Make Your Community Work for Older People;" and WHEREAS, the City of Bozeman has been enriched by the many contributions that have been given to it by its eldest citizens; and WHEREAS, often-times these contributions go unrecognized; and WHEREAS, our eldest citizens may themselves be frail, vulnerable and isolated within our community; and WHEREAS, the citizens of Bozeman have traditionally dedicated themselves to helping those in need; and WHEREAS, we are truly fulfilling the tradition of good neighborliness by developing within our community the comprehensive services that will enable our older citizens to live with dignity and independence. NOW, THEREFORE, I, Judith A. Mathre, Mayor of the City of Bozeman, do hereby proclaim the week of May 18-22, 1987, as "SENIOR CITIZENS WEEK" in the City of Bozeman, and call upon all our citizens to give appropriate expression of thanksgiving to the elderly citizens of Bozeman.
