PROCLAMATION
CHILDREN'S BOOK WEEK
November 14-20, 1988

WHEREAS, America's libraries of all kinds--public libraries, school li-
braries, academic and research libraries, and special libraries
--are essential to national literacy, lifelong learning, and a
productive economy; and
WHEREAS, children who are read to in the home and use the library do
better in school, and children who grow up using the library
are more likely to continue to be library users as adults; and
WHEREAS, access to libraries is avai lab Ie free to every citizen of the
City of Bozeman; and
WHEREAS, the libraries in our community are celebrating Children's Book
Week with the theme "Wish Upon a Book. II
NOW, THEREFORE, I , Alfred M. Stiff, Mayor of the City of Bozeman,
Montana, do hereby proclaim the week of November 14 through 20, 1988
as
CH I LDREN'S BOOK WEEK
in the City of Bozeman and encourage all citizens to use their libraries.
