PROCLAMATION
DESIGNATING SISTER CITY
IN COSTA RICA

WHEREAS, the cities of Bozeman, Montana, and Turrialba, Costa Rica,
are similar in size, population and economic interests; and
WHEREAS, the Centro Agronomico Tropical de I nvestigacion Y
Ensenanza (CATIE) , an internationally recognized institute
for research and agricultural development, is located in
Turrialba and would be an integral part of the Sister City
relationship; and
WHEREAS, reciprocal visits were made by citizens of Turrialba, Costa
Rica, and Bozeman, Montana; and community similarities
were noted; and
WHEREAS, Bozeman, Montana, and Turrialba, Costa Rica, seek to de-
velop a bond of friendship through mutual exchanges of
their citizens to establish enduring partnerships in the
areas of culture, education, science and technology, trade
and commerce, tourism, and agriculture.
NOW THEREFORE, I, Alfred M. Stiff, Mayor of the City of Bozeman,
do hereby proclaim the City's intent to pursue a Si ster City rela-
tionship with Turrialba, Costa Rica.

Bozeman, in the State of Montana,
to be affixed at Bozeman, Montana,
this 24th day of April, in the year
of our Lord, One Thousand Nine
Hundred and Eighty-Nine.
