HomeMy WebLinkAboutProclamation 93- National Arts and Humanities Month October 1993 PROCLAMATION NATIONAL ARTS AND HUMANITIES MONTH October 1993 * * * * * * * * * * WHEREAS, the arts and humanities enhance and enrich the lives of all Americans; and WHEREAS, the arts and humanities affect every aspect of life in America today, including the economy, social problem solving, job creation, education, creativity and community liveability; and WHEREAS, a coalition of 45 national arts and humanities organizations representing over 23,000 cultural organizations have formed the National Cultural Alliance to develop a multi-year public awareness campaign on the availability and importance of the humanities and arts to all Americans; and WHEREAS, the campaign and its theme, "The Arts and Humanities. There's something in it for you", will be introduced to the public in the Fall of 1993; and WHEREAS, the nation's 23,000 cultural organizations, the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Humanities, the nation's 3,800 local arts agencies, the arts and humanities councils of the 56 states and U.S. jurisdictions, and the President of the United States will be encouraged to participate in this celebration and in the public awareness campaign; and WHEREAS, the month of October has been designated as National Arts and Humanities Month by the United States Conference of Mayors. NOW, THEREFORE, I, Timothy Swanson, Mayor of the City of Bozeman, do hereby proclaim October 1993 as "NATIONAL ARTS AND HUMANITIES MONTH" in the City of Bozeman, and encourage the citizens of Bozeman to participate in, and to celebrate, the cultural riches our city has to offer. SEAL IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the City of Bozeman, in the State of Montana, to be affixed at Bozeman, Montana, this 27th day of September in the year of our lord One Thousand Nine Hundred and Ninety-three.
