HomeMy WebLinkAboutProclamation 96- International Building Safety Week 1996 April 7-13 1996 rFroclamation International Building Safety Week 1996 April 7-13, 1996 l~ereas, the safety of the buildings we occupy daily is essential to the health. safety and welfare of the citizens of the world; and ~ereas. among the world's most fundamental laws and ordinances are those which pro- vide standards for the safe construction of buildings in which people live, work and play; and ~ereas, for construction and building codes to be effective and enforced, understanding and cooperation must exist between code officials and the people they serve; and l~ereas, through the efforts of code officials worldwide, and their cooperative relation- ship with the construction industry. the administration of these health and life-safety standards is assured; and l~ereas, units of govemment across the world ~ along with such prestigious organiza- tions as Building Officials & Code Administrators (BOCA) Intemational, lnc', International Conference of Building Officials (lCBO), Southern Building Code Congress International (SBCCI). Inc,. the Council of American Building Officials (CABO), the National Conference of States on Building Codes and Standards (NCSBCS), and the World Organization of Building Officials (WOBO) - are joining to promote the use of building and construction codes today. for a lifetime of building safety, through the observation ofIntemational Building Safety Week; and l~lereas, the theme of International Building Safety Week 1996 has been established as "A Safer World Is on the Horizon;" ~w, therefore, I DON E.
