PROCLAMATION
ALCOHOL AND DRUG ADDICTION RECOVERY MONTH
SEPTEMBER 1998

WHEREAS, on behalf of the citizens of Bozeman, we are pleased to join with Alcohol and
Drug Services of Gallatin County in recognizing the month of September, 1998
as ALCOHOL AND DRUG ADDICTION RECOVERY MONTH in Gallatin County,
Montana; and
WHEREAS, setting this month aside offers advocates of alcoholism and drug abuse
treatment an opportunity to educate the public about the effectiveness of
substance abuse treatment; and
WHEREAS, the disease of alcoholism and drug dependency are among America's most
serious problems, affecting every community, whether urban, rural or frontier;
and
WHEREAS, substance abuse treatment aids in the successful management of the disease
of alcoholism and drug dependency, allowing people to lead productive lives;
and
WHEREAS, more people in need of treatment can be reached through awareness of
substance abuse as a disease by doctors, workplace assistance programs,
places of worship, and the community as a whole.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Alfred M. Stiff, Mayor of the City of Bozeman, do hereby proclaim
September 1998 as
ALCOHOL AND DRUG ADDICTION RECOVERY MONTH"
in the City of Bozeman, and hereby call upon all citizens, government agencies, business
leaders, hospitals, schools, public and private institutions in Bozeman to promote awareness
of treatment and recovery from the disease of alcoholism and substance abuse.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set
my hand and caused the Great Seal of the City
of Bozeman, in the State of Montana, to be
affixed at Bozeman, Montana, this the 8th day
of September in the year of our Lord One
Thousand Nine Hundred and Ninety-eight.
