PROCLAMATION
AGRICULTURE WEEK
March 14-20, 1999

WHEREAS, agriculture is an important part of Gallatin County's economy; and
WHEREAS, when compared to all 56 Montana counties, Gallatin County ranks ninth in
livestock production, tenth in crop production and eighth in overall agricultural
production; and
WHEREAS, Gallatin County ranks first in milk production, first in potato production, third
in hay production and first in alfalfa production in Montana; and
WHEREAS, Gallatin County producers raise 1,856 acres of certified grain seed, 378 acres
of certified pea seed and 296 acres of certified grass seed.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Alfred M. Stiff, Mayor of the City of Bozeman, do hereby proclaim
the week of March 14 through 20, 1999 as
n AGRICULTURE WEEK"
in the City of Bozeman, and encourage the citizens of Bozeman, the next time they go to
the refrigerator for a snack, to give a little thought to where those necessities come
from-Montana agriculture! I further encourage the citizens of Bozeman to remember the
significant economic benefit of agriculture in Gallatin County and Montana to our
community.

City of Bozeman, in the State of Montana, to
be affixed at Bozeman, Montana, this 15th
