HomeMy WebLinkAboutProclamation 99- Food Drive Day May 8 1999 ~~I~~ PROCLAMATION FOOD DRIVE DA V May 8, 1999 * * * * * * * * * * WHEREAS, Bozeman letter carriers will collect non-perishable food donations along their mail routes on Saturday, May 8, to help stock the local food bank for the needy; and WHEREAS, the program began in 1991 with a ten-city pilot food drive in which letter carriers, on the same day, collect food and deliver it to food banks; and WHEREAS, the U.S. Postal Service touches the lives of all residents of the Bozeman area, and the postal facilities and operation act as a conduit for customers to help others in the community; and WHEREAS, through the efforts of the letter carriers and the generous donation of food from homes along the carrier routes, help to those in need is realized. NOW, THEREFORE, I, Alfred M. Stiff, Mayor of the City of Bozeman, do hereby proclaim May 8, 1999 as "FOOD DRIVE DA V" in the City of Bozeman, and urge our community to get involved with the carriers to help feed the needy families by placing non-perishable food at your mailbox on Saturday, May 8, 1999.
