BOZEMAN CITY COMMISSION
Resolution on Fiscal Policy of Federal Government
To the President of the United States of America and to the Honorable
Congressional Delegation from the State of Montana:
We, the members of the Bozeman City Commission of the State of Montana.
most respectfully represent as follows:
WHEREAS, the very basic economic fiber of our beloved United States of
America is being threatened by high interest rates. in part attrib-
utable to federal borrowing; and
WHEREAS, the borrowing is necessitated and complicated by continued
federal imbalance of revenue and expenditures; and
WHEREAS, fiscal integrity is our strongest deterrent to international
economic agression; and
WHEREAS. the protection of our economic base is neither Republican nor
Democratic. but the concern of all,
NOW. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Bozeman City Commission:
(1) That the 1981 income tax reduction and the projected income
tax reductions be removed until the budget is balanced;
(2) That the budget expenditures be reduced. starting with. but
not limited to, the federal defense budget;
(3) That the federal government be asked to exist in the same
fiscal world that it suggests local municipalities must
survive in. This course will lead to a balanced budget
in the earliest fiscal year possible. Local government
is asked to, and/or mandated to, balance the budget.
When the federal government eliminates the deficit, we
will feel the rules are the same.
(4) That we pray for each other at every opportunity as did
those who preceded us in founding and protecting our be-
loved country.
