Subject:Objectives
Gents-
I have been called out of town on work travel and will, unfortunately, miss tomorrow’s meeting. Here’s a few comments
for your consideration, sorted by goal. Please let me know if you have questions or would like to discuss.
Thanks for your efforts.
Best,
Paul
A. SHAPE:
a. Objective looks fine, but out of place. I’d put it under E. MOBILITY.
b. Also, still seems odd there are no goals here.
B. NEIGHBORHOODS:
a. Under third goal: have no idea what this objective means: “focal point development”? “functional and
sustainable activities and equipment”?
b. Under last goal:
i. Objective 2: not just transit: all forms of multi-modal transportation (walkable, etc.)
ii. Add objective: “Prioritize infrastructure investments on infill development.”
iii. Objective 5. Have no idea what this means.
C. DOWNTOWN/DISTRICTS:
a. Under second goal:
i. Is supporting university efforts to attract commercial an appropriate City of Bozeman land use
objective? How do we do this in a land use plan?
b. Under third goal:
i. Add objective: “Prioritize infrastructure investments on infill development.”
D. MOUNTAINS/OPEN SPACE
a. Under first goal (parks):
i. Add objective that refers to, and supports implementation of, PROST plan (similar to the first
objective under F. ECONOMY and reference to Bozeman Economic Development Strategy)
b. Under second goal (climate):
i. Add objective that refers to, and supports implementation of, city’s climate action plan (similar
to the first objective under F. ECONOMY and reference to Bozeman Economic Development
Strategy) (https://www.bozeman.net/home/showdocument?id=3140)
ii. Page V of the climate action plan outlines a number of recommendations that should be
incorporated here, including:
1. Revising building codes to LEED standards
2. Transportation: roundabouts, signals, bikes, funding, etc.
3. Water: recycling, etc.
E. MOBILITY
a. Looks great-no comments.
F. ECONOMY
a. First goal:
i. Objective 4 (“collaborate”) does not seem a land use objective. Suggest striking.
2
G. COORDINATION
a. Looks great-no comments.
